Stand Up!

I met Gerry through the vast world of the Internet...he is an amazing photographer from South Africa. He posted this on his blog in reference to the recent news of Brentwood Farms selling lion and tiger meat (and other exotic meats) for human consumption.

Have a look:

Also, if the article I had posted before about the FL restaurant serving South African lion is accurate...the restaurant and its "meat" supplier is in violation of CITE. CITE outlaws the export of lion meat from SA. These practices are illegal and must stop!!!

There is a black market trade for many animals all over the world. Be it for meat or medicinal, it is wrong. Even if the animal is not on the official endangered list...the banned export laws are there for a reason. Most of these animals numbers are dwindling in their native countries yet we feel it OK to breed them for meat in ours? Have we become such a pampered, sick society that we think it is a luxury to eat an exotic or endangered animal? I am sure this practice is going on in many more places than just the U.S. It is a sad world we live in people....and if we do not take a stance and try to change things, who will??

Even if you just spread the word...it has the potential to help. Every small gesture can snowball into something that makes a difference.

It never ceases to amaze me at the arrogance of humans and how they act as if they are soley on this plant to be coddled and spoiled, regardless of any other living creatures that inhabit this space. Ugh!
