Well, if you know me, you know we as a household do our best to try to keep it "green". We don't believe in spraying chemicals onto our lawn just to get the "nice lawn" on the street. In fact, I am sure our neighbors hate us because we don't really mind the dandelions lol. Anyhow...we do however have a thistle problem in our yard and issues with things growing up in between patio stones and our interlock brick pathway out front. So off I went to wander the world wide web to look for a good homemade weed killer. I found this....I made a batch and will let you know how it goes. I just sprayed some of the funky greenery that has been coming up.
4 cups vinegar (pickling is best)
1/2 cup salt
2 tsp dish soap
Put in a spray bottle and spray away! But use sparingly because apparently it will kill anything green that it touches. AND bonus is that the ants seem to really dislike it or so they say.
I also put in some geraniums, petunias and some alysum into the small flowerbed out front. We shall see. I am not such a wonderful gardener as I tend to overcrowd things. So learn by trial and error. I wish I had my Grammy's green thumb. Logan was allowed to pick out a plant as well that will be his to look after. No surprise that he chose a strawberry plant. So I have to find a spot to plant that tomorrow.
Here is to the Victoria Day long weekend and HAPPY PLANTING everyone!
